Abstract
A study on the isolation of Yersiniae from the feces of healthy cattle, and their biotypes and serotype, and susceptibility to 12 antibiotics were tested.
Out of 938 cows tested, Yersiniae were isolated from 23 cows(2.5%). Of 23 isolates, 12 isolates(52.2%) were Yersinia enterocolitica and 5 (21.7%) were Y. intermedia and 4(17.4%) were Y. Kristensenii and 2(8.7%) were Y. pseudotuberculosis.
The predominant biotype of Y. enterocolitica was biotype 1(66.7%), followed by biotype 3(16.7%), biotype 4 and 3B(8.3%), respectively. And the predominant serotype of Y. enterocolitica was 0:21(47.7%), followed by serotype 0:9(25.0%), serotype
0:5(16.7%), and serotype 0:3 and untypable strains(8.3%), respectively.
Y. enterocolitica were resistant to ampicillin(91.7%), cephalothin(91.7%) and carbenicillin(83.3%) Y. intermedia were resistant to Cf980.05) and Am Cb(40.0%) respectively, and Y. frederiksenii were resitant to Am, Cf, and Cb(100%) respectively,
but
Y.
pseudotuberculosis were susceptible to all antibiotics. They were susceptible to amikacin, gentamycin, kannamycin, tetracycline, nalidixic acid, streptomycin, tobramycin, neomycin, and chloramphenicol.
